What to expect:
- Medieval Charm & Castle Views: enjoy a pleasant walk through the medieval town and around the magnificent 13th-century Gruyères Castle, offering charming panoramic views. (Castle interior visit is optional.)
- The Gruyères Cheese Factory: learn the secrets behind the production of the famous Gruyères cheese. Your visit includes a guided experience detailing the process and a tasting of three different varieties of local cheese
- H.R. Giger Museum Bar: visit the unique Giger’s Bar, designed by the acclaimed artist Hans R. Giger, best known as the creator of the iconic imagery for the film Alien.
- Optional Swiss Fondue Lunch: for total immersion in this Swiss cheese paradise, we can reserve a table at a local restaurant where you can savor the region’s famous authentic Swiss fondue.
Your Gruyères Tour: Detailed Itinerary
- I’ll meet you right at your Lausanne hotel (Montreux, Vevey are also possible), and we’ll enjoy a scenic, comfortable train ride to Gruyères (approx. 80 minutes).
- Once we arrive, we start by visiting the Gruyères Cheese Factory (30-45 minute visit) Insider Tip: Plan for a morning arrival! The live cheese demonstration usually ends by 12:00 PM.
- We continue by Historic walk around Gruyères village. By wish you can visit the majestic 13th-century Gruyères Castle.
- Optional Fondue Experience: authentic Swiss fondue for lunch or dinner.
- Themed Stop: we’ll visit of the atmospheric H.R. Giger Bar, designed by the Oscar-winning artist.
- Hassle-Free Return: I will personally escort you back to your accommodation in Lausanne/Montreux/Vevey

Anna was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable, kind and fun. She took the time to listen to what we wanted to see and do on our tour and worked to make it happen. We loved the cheese shop she took us to, and learning all about the history of the city.
