Located in the canton of Vaud, Montreux sits beautifully on the northeastern edge of Lake Geneva at the base of the Alps. Thanks to its unique, mild weather, it has earned the nickname “the Swiss Riviera” and has been a premier destination for tourists for hundreds of years.
Whether you are staying nearby or looking for an unforgettable day trip to Montreux from Geneva or Lausanne, this experience is designed to show you the very best of the region with a professional private tour guide. In fact, this itinerary is highly recommended if you are choosing from the popular.
We’ll start our day with a spectacular cogwheel train ride, which offers breathtaking views of this realm of enchantment as we ascend to the Rochers‑de‑Naye mountain.
- In summer, the peak is a paradise for hikers, famous for its unique alpine garden with hundreds of mountain flowers and panoramic viewpoints.
- In winter, from late November until December 24, the mountain transforms into a festive wonderland where the real Swiss Santa Claus resides, offering children and adults alike a chance to make magical holiday memories and receive a precious gift!
For lunch we suggest a charming, traditional Swiss chalet‑style restaurant located on the way from Rochers‑de‑Naye to Montreux and which offers stunning views! The best choice for delicious Swiss fondue! If you fall in love with the Alpine cuisine during this trip, you can later join our specialized Alps cheese dairy tour or the gourmet Geneva gastro tour.
Our journey concludes back at the lakeside, where you can stroll along the famous flower-lined promenade.
